   Welcome to Special Olympics New Hanover County! More than 500 athletes train year-round in 11 different sports and compete in local, regional and state-level events. Special Olympics New Hanover County partners with Wilmington Parks and Recreation for use of facilities and equipment. Our offices are located at 302 Willard Street in Downtown Wilmington.

   Can you believe it, the 8th Annual Polar Plunge was run on February 18, 2012 and we had a great turn out. We would like to thank all of our sponsors, plungers, volunteers, athletes and everyone that came out to support and watch the Polar Plunge. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed all of our costume contest participants. A very special thank you to Tom Briggs,  Artistic Director of the Thalian Association, for being a wonderful supporter of Special Olympics and for being our Master of Ceremonies. Ok everyone, you now have one year to get the costume ready and a dance or skit prepare for the 9th annual Polar Plunge to support Special Olympics New Hanover County.
